it won't help spelling or prenunciation that's for darn sure But I guess if it's done right it could help with expressing things, like teaching how to build sentences and use words and tell stories. It could help with vocabulary, to find the rhymes you have to use new words!

As Fiddle said, "if it works." Using rap as a method for teaching vocab is just as valid as using anything else. Rap, in and of itself, is not "dumb," as you seem to think. It is just the values that some rappers (and musicians in general) promote in their music that are questionable.

It's no different than school kids using any other song to help memorize something like history or geography. It's a great way to learn things. Kids love music, so why not.

Using rap to teach vocabulary is like having drowning victims teach swimming.

Maybe their using Flocabulary to grab kids attention.Maybe the rap part is like a little twist.
