WILL THE REPUBLICANS BE VOTED BACK FOR ANOTHER TERM IN THE NEXT ELECTION?

[+] serious ballot by Ken_from_Dublin

Alas Americans don't have much choice, it's effectively become a duopoly, with no alternative to the stagnant policies of the Democrats or Republicans.

In Ireland we have at least five major parties to choose from in a population of a little over four million, in my lifetime no one party has ruled exclusively, each having to compromise by joining forces with lesser parties in coalitions in order to achieve a majority, this is really healthy for democracy.

Voted : Democrat
The GOP will get back into office over my cold, dead, eviscerated body, dressed up to resemble Dick Cheney in full hunting attire..

There are advantages and disadvantages to every form of government. I do agree that we need more choices here in America. Unfortunately, that's not likely for a number of reasons, chief among them that the rich control both the candidate selection process and the media. So, they have it pretty much locked up. Will it ever change? I hope so, but think not anytime in the near future. Who knows which party will win the mid-term elections. Events and circumstances are so volatile now, that it seems to me a crap-shoot at best.

election thoughts already?

by lightreaper on Mon Sep 11, 06 5:07pm [+]

You mean a choice like in this ballot with only 2 options lol! Of course we have a choice. No one is holding a gun to our head. Anyone is free to vote for the Libertarian party, the Green party, the Communist party or we can write in the name of a candidate. The Dems and Republicans just happen to be the most powerful parties and part of being a Democracy means choice and if most people align themselves with either of the big 2, thats the way it goes But we can vote for anyone we want and there are lots to chose from if thats what people want.
by TomSmith on Mon Sep 11, 06 5:47pm [+]

Heres a list of the major parties you can vote for

Republican Party

Democratic Party

Green Party

Democratic Socialists of America

Libertarian Party

Reform Party

The Constitution Party

Constitution Action Party

^^^ Which two parties will be slugging it out though Tom as per usual on live 'one on one' TV debates in the run up to the election, let's get real here.

The parties you listed there are merely the grass of the lawn that the duopoly of Republicans and Democrats tread on.
by Ken_from_Dublin on Mon Sep 11, 06 5:56pm [+]

Maybe so, but like I said in a Democracy people decide and in this case they have more to chose from. If most choce the big 2 thats in a sense Democracy in action. People have a choice and if they're too stupid to keep making the same mistakes then they have no one to blame but themselves. If we want to teach the Dems and Repubs a lesson then people should vote Libertarian to shake things up a little
by TomSmith on Mon Sep 11, 06 6:08pm [+]

Peronally I think it would be a hoot to elect a Black Female from the Democratic Socialist party as Presiden. I seriously think that would be riot and might just scare the shit out of the old pricks in the Democratic and Republian parties
by TomSmith on Mon Sep 11, 06 6:12pm [+]

no. will they get into office anyway? yes. i'm sure you'll see to that, murderer.
by neothe1 on Mon Sep 11, 06 9:09pm [+]

It's funny how neothe1 the lying government shill who has been caught lying so many times that I've lost count, keeps trying to pretend that he's anything more than a government shill. All anyone has to do is read his posts to see that it's just an act. He keeps making personal attacks on anyone who is a 9/11 sceptic who doesn't believe the Official Lies - that tells ereryone exactly who he works for.

and neothe1, that FAKE Osama bin Laden "confession video" is still a FAKE, and MrFatNose is not going to shapechange into Osama bin Laden.

It's a very unfair election system when so many other parties are LOCKED OUT by the system.

America First Party, American Party, American Heritage Party, American Independent Party, American Nazi Party, American Reform Party, Christian Falangist Party of America, Communist Party USA, Constitution Party, Constitutional Action Party, Family Values Party, Freedom Socialist Party / Radical Women, Grassroots Party, Green Party of the United States (Green Party), The Greens/Green Party USA (G/GPUSA), Independence Party, Independent American Party, Labor Party, Libertarian Party, Light Party, Natural Law Party, New Party, New Union Party, Peace and Freedom party, Prohibition Party, Reform Party, The Revolution, Socialist Party USA, Socialist Action, Socialist Equality Party, Socialist Labor Party, Socialist Workers Party, Southern Party, Southern Independence Party, U.S. Pacifist Party, Veterans Party of America, We the People Party, Workers World Party, American Falangist Party, American Patriot Party, Constitutionalist Party, Democatic Socialists of America, Knights Party, Libertarian National Socialist Green Party, Multicapitalists Party, Pansexual Peace Party, Pot Party, Progressive Labor Party, Revolutionary Communist Party USA, Social Democrats USA, Third Party, U.S. Marijuana Party, Workers Party USA, and the World Socialist Party of the USA.

Now I know most of these parties will never run for the USA presidency but technically they do have the right to do so as they are political parties.

I truly don't know.

In a sane and rational world, the Democrats would be swept into office in 2006. But due to gerrymandering, corruption, effective propoganda, etc. ... I believe the Democrats will do better in 2006, but it will be far less than it should.

Money still speaks louder than Truth.
by Cathexis on Tue Sep 12, 06 6:39am [+]

Cathexis, are you really saying: 'Due to gerrymandering, corruption ,,,,,I believe the Democrats will do better in 2006.'?
by Black_Lava on Tue Sep 12, 06 8:53am [+]

it's nice to pretend we have choices other than the two major parties - but they way it stands now - none of them are viable options. and i still believe the republicans stole the election and they will make every attempt to do it again.
by lightreaper on Tue Sep 12, 06 5:38pm [+]

Mr. Tom Smith: Your listing of all these parties as choices for American voters ignores the fact that it is virtually impossible them to get on the ballot in many states, and that they are heavily outweighed by corporate money, and have almost no media coverage. Not fair choices, I'd say.

"In Ireland we have at least five major parties to choose from in a population of a little over four million."
By Ken_from Dublin. (ballot)

That's because from about 1845 to 1920 roughly 30 million Irish move from Ireland to settle in other parts of the world, with the vast majority coming to North America. You are down to 4 million...and there still coming!
by Jinn_the_Kafir on Sun Oct 01, 06 5:37pm [+]

Voted : Republican
I think that the Republican party will win again since the Dems seem to blow it at the national level.
Here in Texas, the dems seem to keep messing up on all the state races. In the Gov race, last fall, there was a lackluster boring democrat, a independent was a loose-cannon republican who lock horned with the Republican Governor, another independent who is a singer/songwriter.comedian and the unpopular republican governor. Due to the number of people running, the unpopular Republican Governor won with a plurality of the votes.
