not in a true capitalist system.

What exactly is a true capitalist system?
Capitalism does require that there be an underclass who support the system. Someone is bound to lose. So, in that sense, it is like a pyramid scheme. What argues against this notion is that people at the bottom theoretically can make choices that will move them up, and in a pyramid scheme, this option is available. However, in American capitalism, getting from the ghetto to the penthouse is pretty much lottery odds.

No, capitalism generates a great deal of wealth for everyone. This is why the poor in the capitalist west are better off than the poor elsewhere, or even the poor of years before. No one at the bottom benefits from a pyramid scheme, whereas everyones status seems to be shifted upward in a capitalist system (even if they all aren't at the top what constitutes the bottom continues to move upwards). The only ones who don't benefit under capitalism are those too lazy or too indoctrinated to work for their own benefit.
So, by your thinking the poor around the world are so, because they are lazy and unmotivated? Can anyone else see the flaws in his argument or am I just a voice in the wind. The poor don't deserve it, circumstances prevail that keep people exactly where they were when they were born. Your assertion that people can push themselves up the rungs of success doesn't hold water, as to climb higher you must step on those below.

Yes, it is. The myth that the rich, and their camp followers, like to promote is that capitalism can, given the right circumstances, make everyone rich. For capitalism to work, there has to be a large number of have nots in the world to support the haves.
i guess that's why the call the united states a melting pot culture. everything at the bottom gets burned, while the scum floats at the top

No because in most capitalist nations most people fall into the middle class and therefore the wealth is pretty much evenly distributed.Ofcourse the extremes exist but so long as the middle class is larger that the super rich and super poor capitalism is not a pyramid scheme.
'So, by your thinking the poor around the world are so, because they are lazy and unmotivated? ' No, most are screwed over by poor governments, such as the communists in North Korea. The ones in the capitalist west who are unable to succeed at least marginally (home, adequate food, etc) are doing something wrong. ' Can anyone else see the flaws in his argument or am I just a voice in the wind.' Well voice, one major flaw is that the argument you described is not the argument anyone ever made. ' The poor don't deserve it, circumstances prevail that keep people exactly where they were when they were born.' Right, tell that to bill clinton, gates, and the majority of millionares and billionares in this country who all raised their status considerably from humble beginnings. Doesn't it get annoying when the facts are always arrayed against you? You claim the poor are always poor, the rich are always rich, no one can move. But then there's just the heaps of evidence to the contrary. How do you deal with that? Well, same as you do with the evidence aganist communism, ignore it. ' Your assertion that people can push themselves up the rungs of success doesn't hold water, as to climb higher you must step on those below.' Ok, bill gates is very wealthy. How many are crushed under him? It seems like he actually created jobs that never existed before, added wealth to the economy, and benefited his workers who would otherwise have been unemployed. Again, those pesky facts come in to play. WHy can't people just ignore facts and get on board with communism!!?!
True or False, 99% of people born into poverty die in poverty? using a few examples doesnt make your argument. Isnt it annoying when the facts array against you Herzog?
'True or False, 99% of people born into poverty die in poverty?' False. In your socialist nations, like North Korea, absolutely. But this is refering only to capitalist ones. In which case there is quite a good deal of social movement. And poverty in the US is hardly comparable to poverty elsewhere. Sorry, but when our poor have cable TV, a car, and plenty of food (more than plenty judging by obesity rates) I don't think you can really compare them to the poor of cuba or north korea or china who are happy to get one meal a day. Now, would you rather be poor in the US, or poor in North Korea? Capitalism or socialism, which is it? And I take it you still reside in the evil west where you are forced to *gasp* actually walk down to the welfare office yourself to pick up your monthly check, unlike your socialist utopia where it'd be mailed directly to your house.

1. Education (available to all!) 2. Work (available to all!) 3. Wealth (okay, wealth is variable, but for purposes of this 'ballot', wealth is the antithesis of getting screwed)
The statistics dont lie, herzog. People live and die in the same social class they were born to.
The statistics do lie if you in fact simply make them up. If I were to tell you that nearly 100% of people in capitalist nations are better off than they were 50 years ago, would you believe me or ask for proof?
