ballot #101871
That isn't what he said. If your ballot was based on some other premise than misinterpreting herzog's comment, then my answer would by 'no'
Its EXACTLY what he said, but as a paid up member of the 'defend the indefensable brigade' how could I expect any different?
Voted : I disagree
A crude, cruel, and false assertion. But it helps people sleep at night.
Just for FF here is his EXACT quote: The only ones who don't benefit under capitalism are those too lazy or too indoctrinated to work for their own benefit. by herzog on Wed Sep 13, 06 12:42pm
I read what he said. He also said: No one at the bottom benefits from a pyramid scheme, whereas everyones status seems to be shifted upward in a capitalist system (even if they all aren't at the top what constitutes the bottom continues to move upwards). What he said after that is the usual canard about those who can't find work or on welfare. He did NOT generalize that to all poor people. "but as a paid up member of the 'defend the indefensable brigade'" Weak try at an ad hominem attack. Which of course, you on the other hand view everyone who has wealth as being evil and being profiteers. Since you yourself are far richer than at 90% of the world, why don't you demonstrate your solidarity with them by donating 3/4 of your income to them?
Ah the old 'if youre a socialist why arent you wearing sack cloth and ashes' attack. Socilaists believe in equality and not a race to the bottom. I fail to see any ad hominem, I quoted Herzog as written, as he has done with me on many occasions, I dont take it opersonally, but as an opportunity to widen debate. It was a clear pointer that you will defend conservative doctrine, no matter how outrageous, and observed behaviour
Nice to see that Fiddle, the Kool-Aid Drinker, is here defending his boss. Obviously, only an idiot would suggest that the basis of poverty is laziness.
Voted : I disagree
That's not what I took him to mean either. Shows how hard it is to express what you really mean over the internet. One person takes one thing one way and another person takes the same thing another way.
"but as a paid up member of the 'defend the indefensable brigade'" That is an ad hominem attack. Attacking the messenger. And cracky. I don't equate poverty with laziness. And you are an ass for suggesting herzog is my boss. Also really pathetic.
Voted : I disagree
Well many of the poor in America are.
I attacked the message not the message, however, you have to wonder what sort of person would make such ludicrous assumptions.
Lol steel, pathetic attempt to deny reality even for you. Come now, present the whole quote. In fact I think I pointed out specifically that most people around the world were made poor by bad government, not any fault of their own. I wonder why you didn't quote me on that?
The cause must be really desperate if you're down to taking individual qutoes from individual users wildly out of context to somehow prove that communism is a good thing and capitalists are evil.
In America, many poor people either refuse to or just don't want to work. That said, some poor people are unable to work, but either don't ask for or don't know how to get help. Somewhere in this statement is lazy. Don't be so quick to twist someone's ballot intent.
I fail to see how the words are twisted, its right there. Its up to others to decide on his context, it was fairly clear to me.
Not at all steel. First off I limited it to people in capitalist nations, which you specifically ignored in your title saying the entire world. For instance, you might say terrorists deserve to die (well, probably you wouldn't but hypothetically you agree that terrorists are evil and deserve to die) and I take that and rearrange it to make it sound like you said all muslims should die, even though you specifically limited the population you were speaking of to not include all muslims. WOuld that be A) honest, or B) deceitful?
