ARE YOUR POLICE RESPONSIVE TO 911 CALLS?

[+] serious ballot by margaret123

Yesterday, I read a newspaper story about a woman in Minnesota who called the police to tell them someone was breaking into her home. The 911 operated began asking her a series of questions about how she knew someone was breaking in; could it be her husband, a relative, or someone she knew; did she have a gun, and so on down this incredible list. The burglar subsequently raped and robbed the woman, and got away.

My question is how responsive are your local police to 911 calls, and if it is poor, what can be done about it?

My police are very responsive to 911 calls
My police are poor in responding
It varies in my community
Our police never come.
I don't know, I've never called 911.
No, I'm Australian We call 000.

Sounds as if some local municipality was trying to 'save money.'

... but I've heard many horror stories like this one in the D.C. area.

For example, the time a woman called to report an intruder and failed to awaken the snoring operator (heard it on tape). Or the time another woman called, frantic, to report that her husband had had a heart attack, and the operator told her to cool her jets, then went on chatting with her boyfriend on another line, and actually berating the 'bitch' caller in the conversation (also heard it on tape).
