IMO--What is, IS. England and the United States have definitely left their mark on the world. You definitely could say that the Anglo culture has been dominant and aggressive. The down side for this dominant culture is, it's become too large and factious to maintain itself. It's a dying culture; or at least CHANGED from what it was hundreds of years ago. As have ALL the cultures that have dominated in the past. Same thing with Spain. Definitely Rome. Greece. Babylon. etc. etc. And, I wouldn't say it's ALL about the Anglo culture, either. One could argue that it is, in fact, human nature for people/s to attempt to dominant other people/s. The ongoing tribal conflicts in Africa were not INITIATED between Anglos or other Europeans, you know. They existed prior to the arrival. I find it quite against my disposition to 100% vilify anyone. It's a complex issue that you approach. I've left much more unsaid than what I could possibly say about this subject in a lifetime, I think. This is all just my opinion... based upon my world view. I suppose I could be mistaken.
great ballot, by the way!

Having never been there, I can't really say, but a lot of British people I've come across online are very hateful, especially towards Americans. So it makes me wonder if they constant cloudy days make people there naturally irritable.

My sentiments exactly kiki.
Developing countries don’t stand a chance partly due to Structural adjustment programs by the West this leads to poverty. Economies get stagnated and increased privatisation leads to foreign nations namely Western Governments to steal natural resources. Basically it's bureaucrats in other countries calling the shots, they must keep the peasants as peasants as they fleece them and their countries. Another example is The US and UK vetoed a UN resolution calling for the development of nations and individuals as a human right. So there you have it Shazza, your thoughts are correct regarding our great Governments.

Whoa - if that's all you realise about what complete ruthless evil fuckers the ruling classes of both the UK and USA are then I'm afraid you're in for a great deal more pain and suffering. Stop reading the news before you have a breakdown. Live your life. I'm British too and ashamed. I would be slightly more ashamed if I were American, but not much.
It's all about resources. If your "developing" country has something we need, that last thing we want is for you to nationalize it. We don't like that, that smacks of Socialism...Just give us the damn oil/minerals/metals and we'll give you the money.
thanks for your comments! my boyfriend is not from here and brought this subject up so its been on my mind as well as so much hatred lately for this country.
Britain is an amazing country, the best in the world. Although I do hate some of the things we are doing... we are doing many things wrong, but every country has its faults. We just happen to have more pro's than other countries.
