Just curious, what prompted this question?
He wishes to use the oil riches for the betterment of the poor, so he is no statesman, but at least he is doing something for those less fortunate.
Unfortunately his ideas dont gel with the US so the dirty tricks and smear machine rolls into action once more.
He was elected by the people, the only people who oppose him are those who wish to see the elite running things again.

Couldn't all of those things have been said of hitler, stalin, mao, castro, timothy mcveigh, david duke and a whole score of others? Do these qualities by themselves earn respect?
