He made all the right poli-speak moves, saying that it was a bad thing to contravene the rule of democracy. But I've got money that says that Washington was kicking up its collective heels over this. They've been none too happy with the way Bangkok has handled the prosecution of Muslim Terror bases in the country, and they're probably hoping that a nice regime change might bring in more sympathetic ears. Expect money to pass hands under the table soon.

Quite appropriate. But the socialists at my univeristy think that he is being an 'imperialist' by pressuring Thailand to move in a democratic individual rights direction. I disagree. It is not imprerialistic to speak one's opinion. As for the American choice to hesitate over free trade agreements in response to the situation- is also something that the US as a sovereign nation-state should have the choice to do.
