POLICE TO BRIEF MUSLIMS BEFORE TERROR RAIDS

[+] serious ballot by herzog
created Sun Sep 24, 06

POLICE have agreed to consult a panel of Muslim leaders before mounting counter-terrorist raids or arrests. Members of the panel will offer their assessment of whether information police have on a suspect is too flimsy and will also consider the consequences on community relations of a raid.

Members will be security vetted and will have to promise not to reveal any intelligence they are shown. They will not have to sign the Official Secrets Act.

The first panel, expected to consist of four people, will be set up initially in London. Tomorrow representatives from police forces across England and Wales will decide whether to make the scheme national.

COMMENTS:
Britain, what the hell happened to you guys? You were so tough during wwII, and even after that when most of europe had already surrended before even facing a battle, you kept up a strong front. Why are you now asking permission from muslims if you can police muslims to prevent further terrorist attacks? Especially when they aren't doing a single thing to prevent these attacks themselves?

I really hope this was a momentary lapse in judgement and not a sign of things to come, I'd have to see Britain fall to the jihadis along with the rest of europe. They were actually worth saving.

You'll note that all the years they dealt with the IRA they never put a program of politely asking the Irish if they could go in and round up some irish terrorists before acting.

I'd forgotten what a nazi this ballotmaker is.

And a poorly-informed nazi at that... he's clearly no knowledge of the years of close cooperation between Britain and Eire on the issue of terrorism. But when's that ever stopped people of his type from spreading their misinformed scaremongering?

Tch! Such a clown...

PS and I'm sure we all remember how successful the "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out" approach was in e.g. Vietnam...
by ramaDUNG on Sun Sep 24, 06 4:46pm [+]

It depends. A random group? No.

The ballot seems to imply that all Muslims would somehow be disloyal to Britain which is not the case. If I am not mistaken, it was a Muslim who talked to authorities in Britain that thwarted the recent planned terror attacks. I think a carefully selected panel might be a good idea.

never let prejudice be an obstacle to a good rant.

As so called 'moderate' muslims have done nothing so far to limit or even discourage terrorism among their ranks I'd say they cannot be trusted with this sort of information.

I assume you dont read the British press or watch its media, hundreds of muslims have condemned atrocties,

When will you grow up and realise the muslim isnt your enemy, you are your own worst enemy.

Years of ingrained prejudice is hard to shake, but with age comes wisdom and perhaps redemption, we all hope and pray to whatever diety is out there.

Englan needs to go back to the old days when they had some balls. Herzog is right and ramadingdung has no clue. If it wasnt for war you would not be free to talk on this web site right now. War is not pretty or always a good thing but it is a neccessity.

Yes. Because the goal is long-term and there is a bigger picture to consider. While it may be comforting to conceptualize the situation as a real-life episode of 24, the reality is that the goals range far beyond merely 'capturing your perp.'

I don't see the point. It implies that the Muslim community are a lot more separate and different. It is like giving the 'Muslim community' a degree of political autonomy, which sets them apart with different standards from other citizens. I prefer the American melting pot.

I mean: "POLICE have agreed to consult a panel of Muslim leaders before mounting counter-terrorist raids or arrests."

- This is of course assuming that all terrorism is done by Muslims. What a bigoted assumption! To imply that all counter-terrorist raids need to be told to a Muslim Committee implies that they believe all terrorism is linked to Islam. Very bigoted. If it is a non-Muslim suspect, than what? And if it is a suspected terrorist who happens to be Muslim, wouldn't notifying the Muslim committee imply that one believes their religion is a major factor? And if one is not sure yet, if the suspect is Muslim or not- than what? It's not like religion is a required. How bigoted is the whole thing. Leftists who pushed this were doing so out of attempts to be reaching out, but really they were only revealing their own awful bigotry.
