NIE CONCLUDES IRAQI INVASION MADE TERRORISM WORSE

[+] ballot by Cathexis
created Mon Sep 25, 06

In Sepetember of 2006, the various US intelligence branches collectively put out a National Intelligence Estimate that concludes the way that the Bush Administration has prosecuted the War on Terror (tm) has actually made it quantitatively worse.

NOW will you concede the Iraq invasion/ occupation was a mistake?

Yes: I have always believed that it made things worse
Yes: In view of how it has developed, it was a mistake.
No: The intelligence communities are full of Unloyal liberals who sympathize with Terrorists.
Let me change the topic to some Muslim bashing
(sweat) Haven't any pretty young blondes gone missing recently?!?

Funny how they're just realizing it now, lol.

The NIE represents the consensus view of 16 spy agencies. They are the most authoritative documents that the intelligence community produces on a specific national security issue.

This report considered to be THE most accurate and respectable analysis the US government can provide.

Not so fast. Why do we believe these guys now when we know they lied about prewar intelligence? I'm no lover of the Bush Administration, but let's try to be fair here. How could anyone know that the prosecution of the war in Iraq has made things worse? Idle speculation, that's what it is.

Before the invasion 3,000+ U.S. citizens were murdered by terrorists in one day on American soil.

Since the invasion, I haven't been informed of one terrorist attack on American soil.

Actions/facts speak louder than words.
by xxxxxxxx on Mon Sep 25, 06 10:25am [+]

^is that the result of the Iraq War or homeland Security?
by ClosetIguana on Mon Sep 25, 06 10:31am [+]

Tode: If I send money, will you take a Logic class?

There were NO attacks on American soil under any Administration other than Bush's; therefore, by your logic, Bush has THE worst record.

There were no catastrophic asteroid hits on the earth while Jimmy Carter was president. Obviously we can credit his efforts.

Please ... think before you post.

Oooh ... CI hits home in one question! He is more succinct than I.

Tode, it was 8 years between the first WTC bombing and 9/11.

It just a matter of time until the next.

It's good to know that all of the jumping up and down I've done here and on a dozen other sites wasn't in vain. I needed the exercise, anyway.
by Truthseeker013 on Mon Sep 25, 06 12:21pm [+]

margaret, what I think the report concludes is that America's prosecution of the War has only managed to fuel the insurgents' recruiting drive.
by Truthseeker013 on Mon Sep 25, 06 12:23pm [+]

NOW will I concede? I never once believed it was a good idea. Nothing to "concede" here.

I believe the story about the man with the tiger scaring stick is a good analogy, when pointed out to the man there was no tigers in his country, the man replied, 'See it works'

Cathexis: If I send money... will you take a history lesson?

There were NO attacks on American soil under any Administration other than Bush's???

1. WTC in 1993 ring a bell???
2. Bombing of American Embassy (i.e., American soil) in Nairobi
3. Bombing of American Embassy in Dar es Salaam.

Shall I continue?

Please think before YOU post.

PS. President Bush wasn't even in office for two-third's of a year when 9/11/2001 came along. Barely enough time to correct the damage done by President Clinton's Administration.

PPS. I'll give credit to President Carter for the lack of an asteroid hit... if you do the same for every other President. However, I'll also blame President Carter for interest rates in the late 1970's that hit 20%+. You must be too young to remember that. Not to forget 444 days during President Carter's term of Ayatollah Khomeni holding Americans hostage. Oh... almost forgot... gas lines stretching for miles.

wolf_nipple_chips: On 5/19/2003, the former director of the CIA predicted that there would be a major AL-QAEDA ATTACK ON U.S. SOIL within 1 year. (It hasn't happened yet)

On 2/16/2005, CIA Director Porter Goss stated that it's only a matter of time before Al Qaeda attempts to use nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons against Americans. (It hasn't happened yet)

Now, YOU say that it's just a matter of time.

That may be true... but President Bush's Administration has done a good job so far.
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Sep 26, 06 5:44am [+]

Cathexis: By-the-way, the NIE's report is classified. The ONLY portion of the report that has been released to the public is the title. Therefore, there is no way that you know what the NIE's report concluded.

(shaking Tiger stick at Tode)

Apologia, Tode. Apologia.

(And yes, that is an accusation, not a concession.)
by Cathexis on Tue Sep 26, 06 6:52am [+]

I will concede your examples, however, Tode. they are so few, you'd think I'd have remembered.

I still believe that any absence of attacks have little or nothing to do with Bush's efforts. Of course, I also believe that 9/11 was an anomaly ... or would have been ... if it weren't for Bush amd that the 'Terror Threat' has been overblown in an attempt to make us a nation of fearful bedwetters.
by Cathexis on Tue Sep 26, 06 6:54am [+]

So Few?!?!
How many more do you need?
From my point of view... that is three too many. But, I can list more!

You say that you still believe that any absence of attacks has little or nothing to do with Bush's efforts.

Then tell us... Why hasn't U.S. soil been attacked since the Bush Administration's efforts to wage war on terrorists began?

The terrorists have shown that when the U.S.A. is not vigilent, the terrorists can attack the U.S.A. successfully.

It's also clear that when the U.S.A. and its allies ARE vigilent, it can stop attacks. (example: the recent arrests in the U.K.)

9/11/2001 an anomoly??? Some anomoly!

The "terror threat" is real. It is not overblown. 3,000+ U.S. citizens murdered in one day by 19 Islamo-Facist terrorists is not a figment of anyone's imagination.

U.S. citizens aren't "bedwetting" scared or even living in fear. They are realistic, angry, and determined never to let something like 9/11/2001 ever again, while protecting their peace and liberty.

President Bush has just announced that the NIE's report will be declassified.

Now we can all see what the report REALLY says, and not rely on Cathexis to interpret it for us.
by xxxxxxxx on Tue Sep 26, 06 9:12am [+]

Tode: Ha! Yeah, let's see. I wonder if it will bear any semblence to the original, too.
by Cathexis on Tue Sep 26, 06 11:23am [+]

Also, I believe he has said parts of the NIE report will be declassified.

Why 'parts?' Can you say "cherry picking?"
by Cathexis on Tue Sep 26, 06 11:47am [+]

Well, I stand corrected.

The BushCos have released the new NIE ... and it appears every bit as damning as teh leaked version.

What the heck was W snorting that he actually allowed such a damning report out to the public?!?

Or was he merely a victim of his own Kool Aid?
by Cathexis on Wed Sep 27, 06 9:22am [+]

Cathexis: Ha! As usual, You were WRONG and President Bush is a man of his word. Even if President Bush had cherry picked the portions of the report which were to be declassified (which he did not)... it would simply have been the President duplicating the behavior of the neo-secular-progressives. Every bit as damning??? I think not. Take a closer look. The report concedes that the terrorist movement was not being checked in any way prior to President Bush's actions. The report also concedes that the terrorist's efforts have been focused on U.S. miltary, and outside the U.S.A. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT TO HAPPEN. The REAL question is what the heck are YOU snorting?!?
