Because I don't ignore anyone. I revel in my hate mail. Just wish I *got* some... :-(
If you happen to equate the words "great" and "boring" then yes, they are great.
I leave my messages open to all comments, if I can't stand the heat I shouldn't post provocative ballots.
I tried that, Steelhamster, but when one pompous buffoon continually sabotages ballots, * GONG * he's gone. Life is so sweet with not even a whiff of his nastiness.

Yes. While it should definitely be used sparingly it is a wonderful addition to this website. Those of you who haven't been blessed with psychotic stalkers let me tell you (I seem to have more than my fair share) it's a pain in the ass. It's nice being able to post a ballot knowing that people will actually respond to it, and that the first fifty comments won't be from the same guy who does nothing but call you names (not even creative ones at that, just the same ones over and over again) and you can actually make a point and discuss it with the real users of this site. It went a long way towards making this site enjoyable again.
And damn you black lava, I was going to make this exact same ballot.
Herz I see your point of course, but you of all people should appreciate the slippery slope that is censorship surely? Having "maintainers" continually censoring the site is one thing, a thing that generally filters out the extreme spammers, abusive users etc, but censoring certain individuals from ballots at another citizens beck and call WITHIN an essentially public discussion medium? Im not convinced..
When people accuse each other of stalking, how's anyone to know what to believe?
I finally tried out the Ignore option on my psychotic stalker, whom I'll refer to as a "pompous buffoon." (Black_Lava's quote)
That's okay, herzog. I will give you half of all the karma and aura I receive from it!!
Lil ape; stopping comments from users simply because you disagree with them is wrong, and I would consider it censorship. But I don't do that. There are many users who disagree with me, a few that I don't think I've ever agreed with, but only two users are banned from commenting on my ballots. Obviously I allow plenty of dissent. This is more like a restraining order against a creepy stalker. Go look at crankys user page, besides his usual comics and pictures of bush all he has is a series of karma accounts from may, allegedly from me that actually came from another users, but which he decided to blame on me. He has dedicated his homepage to attacking me for something that happened 5 months ago which had nothing to do with me. This kid is deranged, I consider it no loss to no longer have to scroll past his comments. And of course I still welcome dissent, I doubt that will ever end and I will continue to use this application sparingly.
deranged and single-minded.
Note: noone has to invoke the Ignore function.

There should be no "ignore user" category. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Also, if a user's ballots or comments start crossing clearly disgusting, inappropriate lines, the "system" should take care of them. No individual user should have the right to stop comment on their ballot from anyone. Negative feedback is the risk you take when you post a ballot. These hypersensitive, hysterical users want only to allow comments they agree with from their buddies, and this defeats the main purpose of B&W: open and free discourse!
As Mr. Herzog says, stopping comments from people you don't agree with or dislike is CENSORSHIP. You know who you are, confess your sins, and live a better, freer, life. lol
But, margaret123, is it CENSORSHIP to get legally divorced, stop dating a jerk, shop elsewhere? No. It's called choice, dear.
I got blocked by 2 people in the space of 3 days. Not even the hardcore assholes get blocked that much.
