Pakistan is one heartbeat away (i.e. Musharraf's)from an Islamic fundamentalist takeover. Yet the nation has the full blown nuclear program that the U.S. is preparing to use military force to prevent Iran from obtaining. Does that make sense? The U.S. could spill more American blood and spend hundreds of billions using force to prevent Iran from getting nukes, and then stand by and watch while the fundamentalists take over Pakistan and gain control of the Pakistani nukes. Nukes the mullahs would feel justified in using, given the American agression against Iraq and Iran.

To prevent that nightmare scenario, should Bush demand that Pakistan surrender its existing nukes and dismantle its nuclear program?

No, it's okay for Pakistan to have nukes

Why would you think our foreign policy should make sense? Besides, there is a huge difference. I leave it up to you to figure out what difference there is between Pakistan and Iran and the words of their leaders. Of course, that reason is stupid, but who ever said Bush and his posse had brains?

Even if the Islamic fundies were to coe to power and posession of all those nukes, I'd still be more worried about whose's got nukes over here.
