I'm *so* glad that my niece rented this with her money. If I'd dropped a dime on that, I'd be mad.
So many.... of the current generation (PS2, xbox) I would have to say that Metroid Prime forced me to sell my gamecube. Reservoir Dogs on PS2 is atrocious beyond all belief. And any Tekken game. If you like Tekken you're a retard. Fact.
I have to say Twisted Metal III, the followup to the HUGELY successful TM II. After a contractual dispute between Sony and SingleTrac, the software company that developed the first 2 versions of the game, Twisted Metal development duties were handed over to Sony's in-house development team, 989 Studios. The Twisted Metal titles developed by 989 Studios were fundamentally different as the code base was completely rewritten. Sony introduced advanced physics simulation and AI techniques to the series. Many fans of Twisted Metal 1 and 2 were upset at the resulting change of game play, the game basically sucked. We were so excited to get this game, and when we did the disappointment was unreal. The vehicles were difficult to drive, because 989 had tried to make the game way too 'realistic' and in doing so had ruined the 'fun' aspect of the game. Along with that, they kept the character names but ruined the story lines that had previously been done in the other two versions. Then, to top it all off, a good portion of people who really loved the first two games would get motion sickness even trying to play the III version, myself included, because of the choppy "you are in the driver's seat" camera motions in the car. All in all Twisted Metal III was a total disaster, and the IV version was also bad. Supposedly Twisted Metal Black solved a lot of the problems but I wasn't about to buy another version of the game after the abysmal failure of the series with the III release.
