Wow! I just tried synching up Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Lou Reed’s Metal Machine music and for a few seconds the beeps of one of the layers of feedback matched the rhythm of the candy factory dancers! OMFG THEY TOTALLY MATCH UP!!!! Honestly, people! :-p I think this movie matching stuff is mostly in peoples minds, including DSOTM with Pink Floyd. It’s a phenomenon called the Law of Universal Synch, and it works with almost anything. I tried it, and started it in the correct place. Saw a few things match up, but wasn’t too impressed. Try it with some other albums, you'll get similar results.
Sorry to disappoint y'all, but DTSOM never did, does not, and never will have anything to do with The Wizard of Oz.
Or DSOTM even.
What are the odds the person that "discovered" this was on drugs?
I just tried it with Leonard Cohen's 'sisters of mercy' and 'gone with the wind' and came up with the conclusion that they're both crap!
David Gilmour dismisses it as pure BS, no doubt embarrassed that his sublime meisterwork is being juxtaposed with a children's fairytale, so Amen to that.
Lol, I just tried it with Leonard Cohen's 'sisters of mercy' and 'gone with the wind' and came up with the conclusion that they're both crap!

Tim Leary discovered it so I'd have to say "yes" the person that discovered it was likely on drugs.
Even if Pink Floyd didn't do this purposely, I'd still love to watch the movie and listen to the music at the same time, just for the fun of it!
Voted : Pink Floyd did this purposely
As I understand it, contrary to popular belief, Pink Floyd wasn't as drug-influenced a band as is believed. In fact, if memory serves, they kicked out Sid Barrett out of the band for just that. Given that, I'd be inclined to believe that it was done on purpose. Can't say it for certain, because I've never seen the movie. Whenever it comes on, I change the channel. Don't ask me why.
Voted : Coincidence
There are apparently some strange coincidences, but that's all I think they are. I guess it doesn't really matter when you're frying though.
Truthseeker01 Actually Sid was kick out because his schizophrenia was distractin gthe band too much. Side point though.
I don't know. But I have a feeling that if it was done intentionally, Gilmour would never admit it. He definitely wouldnt be the first artists to leave people wondering about his work. To admit connections would take away the mystique.
I can't say, but I do know that if you play "Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits" along with "It's a Wonderful Life" you're blood sugar will go up 40 points.
Play Harry Chaplin's "Cat's in the Cradle" while watching the WB's "Feed the kitty". Start the track when you first see the cat's eyes in the dark.

I doubt Gilmour would lie about this. The movie is longer than the album. Nobody ever told me when to restart it, sometimes after the heartbeat ending/dorothy listening to the tin chest of the tinman.
