WHAT WAS REP. MARK FOLEY THINKING?

[+] serious ballot by margaret123
created Sun Oct 01, 06

Recently Mark Foley, U.S. Congressman from Florida resigned over having sent numerous emails and instant messages to a teenage, male Congressional Page. It is alleged that the House Republican leadership knew about these inappropriate communications for as long as a year and did nothing. The Page's parents sent a letter to Congress asserting this sexual content, and the Republican leadership "investigated," asking Rep. Foley if he had done this. Foley responded that he was just "mentoring the boy," and the issue was dropped (and apparently buried). Now, well now, things are looking bleak for the Republicans: A Justice Department investigation will look into who knew what and when they knew it. Heads may fly. Another central fact: Foley was the co-chair of the House Committee formulating legislation on sexual and exploited children (see picture with John Walsh). Ouch! How do you feel about all this? What was Foley and the Republican Leadership thinking?

This is a sick, sick man
Foley and the GOP leadership should step down
This is being blown out of proportion by the Democrats
I don't get it

COMMENTS:
Looks like an equal opportunity problem to me. Even good old moralistic republicans can have this little charachter flaw.

Most pedos are. Just glad this one was outed before he did serious harm. As for this being blown out of proportion, the man is on record, through his own IMs, telling this poor kid that he'd like to "slip him out of" the white t-shirt and shorts he had on.

The Republican leadership must have been taking their advice on how to handle Foley the Pedophile from the Vatican.

It does appear that the GOP is in trouble. And that Foley is a pedophile.

Like many people with personality disorders, Foley has compartmentalized things in his mind. IMO, he probably BELIEVED he was 'helping the children', while at the same time lusting after them.

Oh and by the way, what was Dennis Hastert thinking?? Can you say ENABLER?

Yep. They're about to be in bigger trouble than this though. And I'm pretty sure that the Bush administration is thanking it's lucky stars that this came out when it did because it will possibly shift the focus of the public to a different direction. The timing couldnt have been better.
