They either were counter revolutionaries or capitalists Lenin would probably just swing it if you had to choose
Lenin was certainly no angel, but even he was suspicious of the lunatic Stalin. Krushchev was more bluster than anything else (even many Russians consider him a buffoon), but eventually he developed a very cordial relationship with President Kennedy. Plus he denounced Stalin, which was nice. Brezhnev kissed guys on the lips in public - Eeyoo! - and was a hard ass, but was reasonable enough to do business with. Andropov and Chenenko kicked the bucket too soon to do anything. Gorbachev unwittingly changed the world with his reluctant compromises. Yeltsin saved Gorbachev's ass before he got into power, but allowed the Russian mafia to get too powerful after he got in. Putin started out ok, but lately (the last few years) he's beginning to worry me. Overall, after careful consideration (about 10 seconds, actually), I'm voting for Gorbachev.
Good summary Bostonian. Brezhnev sure sticks out in my mind a lot, but not because I think he was a great Russian president. I have always been amused that in many Hollywood films made during the cold war and post cold war era, that whenever a Russian president character was being portrayed they always appeared and sounded like Leonid Brezhnev.
Voted : Joseph Stalin
