I agree by the way. Seems kind of petty the way some people add everyone under the sun onto theirs. Do away with them.

They certainly shouldn't display "ignored by" lists on peoples' user pages and displaying a private conflict between two users for all to see. It may make a person look like an a$$hole unfairly if that person is being blocked for unfair reasons. Other websites are as discreet as possible with blocked users. When you send out an email to someone who's blocking you you don't get a message saying you're blocked. The only time a user should be notified about being blocked is when trying to comment on the blocker's ballot.
^I agree. There's sometimes no way an outsider can accurately guess who's right and who's wrong with those things. And they shouldn't be put in the position of guessing by having that information out in the open.

Ignore lists belie the purpose of B&W: A free and open exchange of ideas. What if politicians could have an "ignore" list? What would that do to our political system. I think "ignore" is a clear violation of freedom of speech and the open exchange of ideas. Let's face it: Idiots and stalkers are part of the mix. If, as I've said before, you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

It is a pointless function for pointless people who can't handle debate or questions that challenged their rediculous preconcieved views. Hence that fact that you also had me on your ignore list less that 24 hrs ago.

I argee the ignore list only serves to interrupt debate although I do see that it serves a purpose when a person is being spamed or harassed.

I thought long and hard before implementing this, for the reason you so eloquently stated.
Having been a victim of stalking, I can tell you that it's not pleasant. While some people may abuse this feature, since it's clearly stated who is blocking who, it may actually reflect on the blocker more than the "blockee". Also, there are people who are just not interested in debating, they are just there to harass individual users for their beliefs.
it's not a perfect system, but I thought it would have more positives than negatives... time will tell.
