COMMENTS:
Are we assuming here that the friend got away with the bank robbery? That he has told no one but you? I'd advise them to mail the money back, but I don't think I could bring myself to turn a friend in.
He'd become persona non grata. He'd no longer be my friend.
If He got away with it (and hadnt seriously hurt anyone in the process) he would be, quite genuinly, my hero. I dont have any sympathy whatsoever for banks incurring losses of this sort, the manipulating money grabbing bastards.
I would have to agree with Marge on this one.
Voted : Encourage him to mail the money back
Depends on how close a friend, though. I'd definitely want to know why he/she did it, try to render any aid they might need. If they were recalcitrant in their desire to keep the cash, then I'd turn them in. Theft without rational reason would invalidate the friendship, for me.
Voted : cheer him on
Way to stick it to 'em!
Voted : Be shocked and slowly distance myself
I knew a person who had robbed a bank. He definately had many screws loose to do this, and he still did when I knew him. Even if a person gets away with it (which this person did not), it is was my experience that this is the action of someone with an unstable mind. Admire, if you must, from a distance. A person like this is BAD NEWS.
What Happened to the guy?
ASk if he pistol whip the loans officer. If he said no, I'd call crimestoppers and turn him in
