I wouldn't touch it because it might be evidence in a crime. I'd call the cops and wait for them to arrive.

Actually that depends on the circumstances, the location, and the gun itself. If it was a handgun, I would definately give it over to the police. if, on the other hand, it was a rifle or shotgun found in a woods or known hunting area, I would probably keep it.
