No not at all, although Israel is an ally of our' we are not required to bail them out of every military situation they get themselves into. Now if Israel is on the brink of losing a major war and is going to be occupied by another nation then we have to come to their aid because they are an ally and not aiding an ally ruins our relationship with that nation and weakens our relationships with other allies.
Do I agree that it should be american foreign policy? No -- not automatically, without evaluation. Do I agree that this is, in essence, accepted American foreign policy? Yes.
