DO FLAME WARS MAKE THIS SITE MORE OR LESS PLEASANT?

[+] ballot by herzog
ACTIVE Tue Oct 17, 06 - Wed Oct 17, 07

You know what I'm talking about.

Sometimes two users will go at it (or one user will try to start a fight while the other tries to ignore him) and every ballot will devolve in to a personal war between these two users.

Do you believe these flame wars make the sight more or les enjoyable?

COMMENTS:
Now the new terminology you'll use is flame wars. Hmm, interesting. You can't prattle on about free speech and then whine when people express it and you happen to be cast in a negative light. I also notice you create ballots after I do. Obsess much? You could have ended the flame war if you had in fact not been so arrogant. Personally they don't bother me at all. If its a day or two of banter back and forth, big deal. Don't take yourself so seriously and lighten up. I still laugh my ass off at your favotites list for a very good reason. Calm down dude and just relax. Its a freaking web site for the love of Rush Limbaugh.

You know it might be a good idea to cut and past the ballots in question and let the good users of this site decide who was the one to get all bitchey and annoying. Shall we champ?

People love to attack the messenger instead of addressing the issue. It is called an ad hominem attack.
by FiddleFaddleOnLSD on Wed Oct 18, 06 12:18am [+]

Yeah they do especially if the message is total Bs and bogus. Thats the way it works. Put up crap and you're going to get crap. You can ignore a bogus ballot of course but this is a free site and open to all participants. If someone making ballots is going to be misleading then they're going to get challenged.

Probably because i have high expectations.

I expect: rational, consistent, and mature debate. I also expect people to answer the questions asked. When a survey is conducted, some one asked a question, and so on, the response is worthless and is a failure if it doesn't make an attempt to actually answer the question. Personal insults and irrelevant tangents are useless, they don't attempt to answer the question. This is something I learnt in Kindergarten, when I was asked how many sides a triangle has.

I think it's kinda funny to come back and see that pretty much the same people are arguing about pretty much the same things on this site. How long has this been going on? Four or five months?

WAY more interesting.Back in the early days,we had massive fights. I believe wandering_split archived them.Today, with jerks like Fiddle,( AKA hurricane, AKA Charles "boyfister" Johnson of LGF hate-site) it's a great big sleep. That said, I must admit that it's better to only flame those who are game for such things, and leave people like FuddyDuddyAt LGF alone

hello, everyone. as my battle successfully removed a constant flamer from the site, and sparked a giant online coalition and over 40 ballots on the subject, I am the first person to ask. The answer is, no.

Sometimes there is no other option, but I believe flame wars slow down the site and detract the subject. I had to get rid of that guy, though.
