SHOULD THERE BE A LAW THAT LIMITS THE AMOUNTS OF TRANS FATS IN FOOD?

Such a law was passed in Denmark two years ago, making it illegal for any food to have more than 2 per cent trans fats. Trans fats are partially hydrogenated oils added to processed foods that give them a longer shelf life and are cheaper to produce than healthier oils (like canola or olive oil). Producers say removing those oils will change the taste and texture of the processed foods. On the other hand, trans fats lower good cholesterol and raise bad cholesterol. Apparently eating less than 5 grams of trans fats a day has been linked with a 25 per cent higher risk of heart disease. The Danes interviewed in an article by Associated Press say they have not noticed a change in taste of their favourite pastries and fast food.

Yes, there should be such a law in my country
No, there should not be such a law in my country.
There hasn't been enough time or empirical evidence that this actually improves health

Voted : No, there should not be such a law in my country.
this would stamp out the freedom of so many unhealthy couch potatoes :(
But there should be a law that they have to have clear statements on the packaging for any foods that use them.

Yes, there should. It should be in addition to the mandatory labeling. They say it will change the texture and taste. Yes, it might actually taste better. Junk food companies can actually make their products somewhat healthy and still tasty. A while back Doritos had a low carb version out. What was different? Not much, tasted the same, but it had fiber. This makes it more difficult for you to eat a ton of them. Same taste though. Sorry to rant but I really despise that we allow this type of junk to be sold.

No.

Make sure the label explicitly lists everything inside, but then let people eat whatever garbage they want. We can't tell adults what to eat, anymore than we can order them to exercise daily, not smoke or drink and get the proper amount of sleep everynight.

People will find one way or another to kill themselves slowly, let them.

Now if we were talking banning unhealthy foods in public schools, sure I'd be for that.
