WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AFTER THE MID-TERM ELECTIONS?

[+] serious ballot by margaret123

It seems to me that both political parties support some form of "amnesty" for illegal immigrants, and they seem prepared to pay "lip service" to the idea of a secure border. However, the position of all but a few politicians seems to be to maintain the status quo, and keep illegals coming.

These days, some politicians seem to be taking hard core positions on illegal immigration. My question is, will this hardcore positioning continue after the elections? Will anything change?

Business as usual after the elections
Change is coming - tough immigration enforcement
I don't know

We better all learn the Mexican hat dance and start wearing dandy nice patterned blankets around our shoulders and we'll all have to learn how to ground the maize into the tacos and learn to like the hot sauce. Reeeeeeba Gringo!

I wonder if the upcoming elections is why our housekeeper Rosa Sanchez slapped me the other day and said "you will be working for me one day soon you stupid gringo!" Oh that silly Rosa. She scrubs a toilet better than anyone you've ever met. That crazy Rosita babe

As I've said before, the flood of illegals benefits rich Republicans, therefore the flood will continue, largely unabated.

True cranky. And besides when a Republican says he like to eat Mexican food he really means it. They eat Mexicans you know.

There might not be much they can do. As long as Mexico doesn't know how to run an economy, poverty will push immigrants to take risks. As long as illegals work cheap, employers will create an economic incentive for illegals to come here. For better and worse, it's inevitable.

On the upside, I've heard Mexican restaurants are better near the border.

It all depends on who is elected. The border states have candidates that say they plan on enforcing laws.

^ I should say "immigration laws"

the liberals will be standing at the border with free pay checks, free insurance and free education to private schools for their children.

Once the elections are over, the political utility of the Immigration issue will fade. A few firebrands will still clamor about it, but the majority of politicians will forget about it -- until the next election cycle.

Rich Republicans all over America will let their illegals come out of the cellar.
