Let's say that the person in your political party running for something is a complete moron and the person in the other party is more sensible. Would you still support your political party or the right candidate?

I'm a democrat, loyalty to my party always comes first, no matter what.
I'm a democrat, I would vote for the person in the other party.
I'm a republican, loyalty to my party always comes first, no matter what.
I'm a reublican, I would vote for the person in the other party.
I'm an independant/third party, loyalty to my party always comes first, no matter what.
I'm an independant/third party, I would vote for the person in the other party.

And no glib BS like "Oh, that could never happen, there are never any good candidates in that party."

If I agree persons stances and think there is a chance he's actually being honest and not simply out to get votes, then I'd vote for him.

Believe it or not, I actually have voted for Republican candidates.

Although it is hard, since Bush and the Whore Boys took over the Republican Party.

Voted : I'm a democrat, I would vote for the person in the other party.
I did just this thing a few years ago, in the election for my county's Distict Attorney. The Democratic candidate was aneighbor of mine, and one of the coldest witches I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. The GOP candidate I knew as well, though only from a few meetings at social events, and I liked his platform on the issues and his personality a lot better, so I voted for him in the primary. He didn't even win his nomination, so I ended up writing in my own name in the general election.

If someone carries strong political dogmatism, they'll never see the moron in their own party and will vote for them without a second thought.

I would vote for whomever shared my opinions on issues, no matter what party s/he is enrolled, nor whether other people considered him a moron or sensible.

That's a tough question, actually.

Before the blatant rubber- stamp 'enabling' of the past 6 years, I'd have said "I'd vote for the better candidate."

However, the rubber-stamp GOP has shown us that some political parties are mor einterested in keeping their party in power than ... oh ... doing their jobs responsibly and at least providing some oversight/ checks to an out- of- control executive branch.

All things being equal, I'd vote for the candidate. However, in a situation where one political party is obviously out- of- control and on a power trip -- I'd vote for the moron in the opposing party.

I suppose I would support the other candidate if he was Ron Paul. However, a chimp who supports true liberalism is better than a demublican with a Ph.D. anyday.
