I think the military is still living in the stone ages. I say they should be allowed to tell, and they should be allowed to fight. Better them then me! But then again, maybe we should keep the status quo because when the big one breaks out, I want a way out of the army (hit on your commanding officer)

Gays in the military would be divisive?
Here in Canada we grew out of that childish attitude a long time ago...
In Canada when you join, they ask you if you would have a problem working under/with a homosexual. If you say yes, they don't let you join. Kind of the oppisite of what the USA is doing, but much better than 'don't ask don't tell'.
Doesn't the American constitution have something about equality and freedom from discrimination based on sexual orientation? Although if it didn't I wouldn't be suprised...

I don't know whether it's changed but in the eighties more than half of the people in the gay clubs in Honolulu on any night were military men and women and they weren't straight. Hamburger Marys and Hulas were the two most popular bars. I never went home alone!

If you think there are no gays in the military youre kidding yourself.The military is already full of mostly closeted gays and bi's. Its a well known fact that all those soldiers and sailors are sucking each others c--ks.
