Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
Finally, a judge with some guts. He absolutely did the right thing. If that woman wants to live like a farm animal on her own time, that's her business, but when it comes to life in the real world, she (and the other farm animals like her) has to follow the rules of the society she benefits from.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
totally fair. anyone who tries to defend this woman is just being a p.c. moron. the judge did the right thing.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
Makes sense to me.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
Hey... lets not treat Muslims like everyone else. Lets make exceptions for them all of the time.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
A justified request. She was also born here so she should know that the law is the law. Bet she'll sue now

If she had caved, de-niqab, then to testify... would she have had a problem placing her left hand upon the bible and swearing to "tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help you CHRISTIAN god?

MO: probably, but the won't force you to swear by a bible, she could have requested a koran.
Did the judge think he can read body language, and should judges rely on that as evidence?
She was the one who lost out - doesn't matter does it? I'd like to see a Muslim woman charged with murder - how do they do the identity parade?
"If that woman wants to live like a farm animal" I don't follow this line of reasoning (maybe because there isn't any). Since when do farm animals wear veils? Why the anger and agression ("she and the other farm animals like her...")? Did I miss something? HER claim was thrown out, right? She lost out - no one else. So why the hatred? She has every right NOT to press her claim if she doesn't want to. Did I miss something?

*remove* un-islamic veil
Bostonian- "Finally, a judge with some guts. He absolutely did the right thing. If that woman wants to live like a farm animal on her own time, that's her business, but when it comes to life in the real world, she (and the other farm animals like her) has to follow the rules of the society she benefits from." - Are you referring to Muslim women that choose to dress that way to be 'animals'? If so, I just want to take this oppurtunity to denounce such hate-filled rhetoric as immoral. Next, flagrantviolator- I don't think making comments against Judaism will resolve the bigotry against Muslim women.

7 times out of 10 it's better that muslim women keep the bag/veil on
IS IT BEST TO RESPOND TO QUESTIONS WITH RELEVANT ANSWERS? by Socrates ACTIVE Wed Oct 18, 06 - Thu Oct 18, 07 ^Socrates, you made the above ballot and on that ballot and another, you went on and on about people not answering the ballot question. In this ballot, you didn't answer it. Instead as is your usual habit, you picked apart the comments of others. You're a hypocrit. Answer the ballot question now.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
My answer is that in my opinion, the Judge did the right thing and was fair.
Perhaps we need a Constitutional Amendment requiring the face be exposed for this kind of situation. Can you imagine a Driver's License picture with a bandanna covering the nose and mouth ? Not gonna be allowed.
Voted : It was a fair request and he made an effort to accomodate her religion
Because that chick was a MAN, BABY!
"Socrates, you made the above ballot" He didn't make this ballot, it was Herzog, and Socrates does answer his own ballot questions. How is he a hypocrite? What Bostonian and Flagrant say does sound hate filled.

Beauregard, you dont' think that the comments by Bostonian and Flagrant are kinda hate filled?

Voted : It was not fair, she shouldn't have to remove her veil under any circumstances
Personally, I don't see what the frell that has to do with the price of tea in China. If I want to judge the veracity of what someone says to me, I don't need to see his or her entire face, just their eyes. But then, I have a measure of what somerefer to as common sense, something that clearly isn't required to become a jurist in this country. And I apologize to my lawyer, who is a jurist himself.
Umm, Aya, you might want to read my comment once again. See where I indicate a ballot Socrates made in my comment? Thats what I'm talking about. If you're not familiar with the whole situation, I wouldn't imagine you'd know what I'm talking about. He's a hypocrit because he went on at length about people not answering ballot questions. He made a ballot about such topic (once again, as I clearly indicate in the first of my comments above) and then here he is, doing everything but answering the topic question. Make sense now?
Beauregard, you dont' think that the comments by Bostonian and Flagrant are kinda hate filled? by aya on Tue Oct 24, 06 10:18am You're just like Socrates! Stay with me. The point is, to come onto this ballot and the only participation you make is to pick apart other people's comments, but fail to even address the actual ballot topic is wrong, IF you in fact bluster on and on about people failing to answer ballot topics with a direct answer. You can of course comment on other participant's comments but since Socrates made the big stink about people making personal attacks, etc., and not answering a ballot question, its hypocritical of him to come on here and basically avoid the topic itself. As for your question, it is none of my business what Flagrantviloater and Bostonian wrote. Its also irrelevant to you and others what I think about their comments.
Sorry Socrates and Widehead. My error. I should have been more accurate by saying that they are FORCED to live like farm animals by their Muslim husbands and Muslim fathers. Oops! I did it again. Farm animals have MORE freedom than the women who are forced to cover their bodies from head to toe (except their eyeballs). The Muslim men who make their wives and daughters live that way are the dumbest pieces of garbage on the face of the earth. Angry? You're damned right I'm angry.
Bostonian- Probably. But there are some that choose to dress that way of their own free will also.
Beauregard- It is because I cannot make up my mind about the whole situation. On the one hand, I support individual expression, and the right to wear what one wants. On the other hand, I understand what the judge is saying. I haven't answered because I don't have an answer.
I guess I could have answered 'I don't know', as that would be a direct answer. I didn't think of it at the time. Anyway, I've answered as such now. Better later than never.
I live in Saudi Arabia. I'm not a muslim and I'm not a Saudi and personally I am sick to death of how muslims always cry foul about everything. I've spent time in their countries and I can tell you they are hypocrites at the highest level. The only thing that goes is the Islamic way in their countries, but why can't they just realize that the whole world is not muslim and when they leave their "paradise" they need to respect the laws and traditions of other cultures and not cry everytime something doesn't go their way. In Saudi, they have no tolerance for anything other than their own way---but at least we try to half way some of the time---I know we aren't perfeect---but fucking just shut up sometimes and realize the world is not always going to kiss your ass

Why don't we ALL wear veils in the courtrooms then. :-)
