If people want to kill themselves by burning their lungs up, let them.
The government shouldnt really be placing direct bans on behaviour that doesnt directly infringe upon anothers rights. Thats the basis of civil liberty. If passive smoking can be definitively shown to cause harm to others, then you could ask why do people go to bars where they know other people will smoke? The fact remains that if there was the huge demand for non-smoking pubs/clubs that we are led to believe, then the hospitality industry would have caught on and created non-smoking clubs/pubs. But they havent, so there isnt.
Having said that, I would welcome a ban simply because it would stop ME smoking when Im out drinking, selfish as that is.

I've never smoked, can't be in the presence of anyone who does smoke (which manages to be nearly everyone I know), and I've lost two older relatives to lung cancer, but I still won't take away anyone's right to kill themselves- uh, enjoy their fine tobacco products.
Now, that dalring lady in the pic? She just lost out on me with that ciggy in her hand. And she'll never know it, poor girl...
*it's well Known* sorry 'bout the grammatical errors...

She's making a joke in that picture I think, because look at her teeth! It's one of those 'Look how dumb smoking is.' things. I smoked for a couple of years and I'm proud I stopped, but I can't really look down on people who did it, as long as they don't crowd me.

Absolutely not. I've long fought for the right to do one's business without being subject to murderous second hand smoke. It's been hard, but that battle now seems to be won. But it's a huge leap to say smoking's illegal. People should be free to do their thing, AS LONG AS their not hurting others. Drunk driving should be illegal, but drinking should be legal. Likewise, imposing second-hand smoke on others against their will should be illegal, but smoking should be legal.

Next would be drinking, then motorcycles, then guns. If a few irresponsible idiots can't monitor their vices, why should moderate, "responsible" idiots be penalized.
