Does coffee wire you out, or calm you down? My good friend who works with the ADD/ADHD community on a constant basis tells me that it is not uncommon for ADD/ADHD people to claim that coffee or caffeine drinks actually "calm" them. It works that way for me, too. But then, I'm an ADHD adult. So, it's a straight question. Does coffee wire you out, or calm you down?

Tends to make me less wired and more focussed.

Taking Excedrin with all that caffeine makes me calm and comfortable. It never keeps me awake, and often it makes for a very relaxing drift off too sleep.

i stick to one cup of pretty strong coffee first thing in the morning. Wakes me up, gets me moving. more than 2 cups makes me wired and coffee after noon tends to make it difficult for me to fall asleep that night.

It depends. Sometimes caffeine makes me sleepy, sometimes it makes me more energetic and alert. Recently the latter has been happening more often.
