The base word of ignorance is to ignore, or to be aware of but not heed, while stupidity is the inability to heed possibly due to a mental deficiency...or a lack of ability to focus...that's my take on it...

Ignorance can be overcome. Stupid usually isn't.

Ignorance was supporting Bush in 2002. Stupidity is supporting Bush in 2006.
