It's bad enough they were dumb enough to elect Ronald Reagan. They seem to be determined to make the same mistake twice.

Oh my God! I can see him winning the Republican nomination for President in 2008. Running against Hillary. And he WINS!

I'm gonna be sick, bye.

It's a BLUE state. Of course they're stupid.
You're stupid
No, they remember Grey Davis who was totally recalled.

Uhhhh...I think you answered your own question there...

I'd say this was a rare glimmer of sanity in that nut house.

^Better to live in the nut house than the redneck shit house.

Stupid seems to be the way the wind blows these days.
by nuckinfutz on Mon Oct 30, 06 6:40pm [+]

If I lived in Calivas I'd vote for him too.

You lost your credibility on this topic when you put down Ronald Reagan who was a great governor AND a great president.

Of course. They're the ones who impose countless restrictions on gasoline blends and are then shocked at higher gas prices.
by thc2883 on Tue Oct 31, 06 5:41am [+]

I would vote for him if I lived there.

Reagan was a lousy president.
by cranky on Tue Oct 31, 06 7:23am [+]

I'm not voting for him. The only reason he got on the ballot the first time (along with a dentist, a porno star, a golf pro, Gary Coleman, and about 50+ other candidates for governor) was because the state recalled Gray Davis and we had a special election. I didn't vote for him then, either. And he never would have been elected if he wasn't a famous movie star. Being a celebrity doesn't automatically qualify you for state office.
There are 38 million people living in California, nearly twice the population of Australia. Please don't lump us all together.

Cranky, you're part of a very small minority of people who feel that way.
by Bostonian on Tue Oct 31, 06 7:00pm [+]

^This is one of the rare occassion on which cranky is correct. Reagan surely had the potential to be a good president, but he let the neocons of the 80s hijack his policies. Much like Bush, he wasn't smart enough to avoid becoming a puppet.

THC, then why is Reagan already listed in the top five in the presidential rankings made by historians, presidential biographers, and history professors throughout the country? The top five list usually includes Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.
by Bostonian on Wed Nov 01, 06 11:03am [+]

Oh yeah, I forgot Jefferson. Make that the top six.
by Bostonian on Wed Nov 01, 06 12:49pm [+]

^Because people have low standards for recent presidents.

Presidents long dead will make it on the list purely because a mythology has been built up around them.
by thc2883 on Thu Nov 02, 06 5:35am [+]

The Terminator can't be President because he wasn't born here but in Austria.
