COMMENTS:
I have made it clear in the past and I will make it clear again- I do not think that the Islamic world the enemy. Let it be known that I have said this many times, yet I continue to have to repeat myself. I have no problem repeating the facts: I do not think the Islamic world is one big cohesive enemy. Hopefully this time I have made my stance clear on this. I'll clarify it yet again if necessary. I do not think the Islamic world is 'the Enemy'. I do not hate Muslims. I do however think that there is a mischievous minority in the Islamic community that are provocative. I will condemn them, just like most Muslims do. I don't care if it is politically incorrect- I think it needs to openly discussed: there are extreme elements that are a minority in the Islamic world that need to be condemned. Does that mean I dislike all Muslims or that I think the entire Islamic world is 'The Enemy'? Absolutely not.
"I will condemn them, just like most Muslims do." The trouble is that most Muslims do NOT condemn them. Every time there'a a terrorist attack, the sound of the crickets chirping in the Muslim world is deafening. And calling Islamofascists "mischievous" is like calling Nazis pesky.
*'s
Bostonian- all the Muslims I know condemn it very openly and frankly, with very little ifs or buts.
Voted : No, I do not think the Islamic world is the enemy
No, however the Bush Administration is spinning it that way. Anti-Islamic bigotry, as a pillar of foreign policy and domestic propaganda, is a good starter for the Republican Party, but it will have a bad ending for the United States - and the Islamic World.
Nice to see this Soc. I think the problem is your perception that this subset is not being sufficiently condemned, thus your tendency to focus on this area (often without this judicious clarification) and appear to be beating a dead horse, if not trying to advance some unintended agenda.
Bostonian: How ironic ... that's just what I had been thinking about Republicans ... The trouble is that most Republicans do NOT condemn the deceit, corruption, and incompetence of the GOP officials who are ruining this country. Every time there's another screw-up, power grab, scandal, pocket- lining crime, avoidance of accountablity, or intelligence- insulting lie, the sound of the crickets chirping in the Republican world is deafening. And calling GOP misdeeds "politics" is like calling Nazis pesky.
And yes, I do believe the current Republican party poses a far greater danger to the US than any Islamic faction.
Cathexis- I do believe that there is little condemnation. For example with the Danish cartoon controversy- hardly any other free country actively supported Denmark's laws of free expression. I perceive a problem in the non-Muslim world in being too politically correct to stand up for certain values out of political correctness regarding the provacative SIGNIFICANT minority in the Islamic community.
Voted : No, I do not think the Islamic world is the enemy
It's a few extremists that are the enemy, like the Wahabis.
Bostonian, it's important to remember that freedom of speech is something most of us take for granted. Most people who practice Islam live in countries or among people who would react to something like protest with violence. It's really important to remember that.
The islamic world as in every single muslim living on the planet today? No. However, Islam is certainly contributing to the conflict rather than helping to end it, and muslims are doing too little to reign in their extremists. How many muslim nations are at least sympathetic, if not openly supportive, towards terrorist organizations? How many muslims feel the same way? How many have come out to condemn, in absolute terms, all forms of islamic extremism? How many reform movements have there been? How many terrorists have been driven from these communities by muslims, furious with the way they are using the religion? This is like asking during wwII were germans the enemey? Well, many were directly fighting us. Most were just average people, not good or bad, who were dragged along by homegrown extremists that they did nothing to stop, and a good number were actually evil and helped to perpetuate this evil. This is a good historical analogy to what we are facing today. Most germans were not fanatical with starting a world war, or killing all the jews, but a few who were were able to push their way to the top and the rest simply followed along without stopping the madness. And guess what, the good, but silent germans died alongside the evil ones.
Muslims are suffering today what the Nazi's put the Jews through in 1930's Germany, it won't quite be a prelude to the final solution, just this time the Nazi's have been replaced by the war profiteering Pnaczi's, and the Jews by Muslims, convenient patsys demonised and marginalised by the propaganda media outlets they control to gain public support and justification for their evil agenda of endless profiteering war, regardless of the cost to the sheep they rule over and want to control. Everyone knows they lied about WMD's, well that's just the tip of the iceberg, Muslims have always been here, and always will, they didn't fly those planes into those buildings, further proven by the absolute 100% certainty thtat all three building were pulled, step outside the box and all this will be revealed to you with just a modicum of your own independent research - just google 'pnac 9/11' for a start. youtube. com/watch? v=Wd_hN5Ob -Bo&mode= related &search=
^ because as we all know, the jews of germany prior to 1940 were launching terrorist strikes, killing thousands of germans, rioting in the streets and assualting police, preaching death to all germans and the violent overthrow of the german government to be replaced by an entirely jewish government. Oh, and the germans responded by not rounding them up into camps and not killing them by the millions, and stating over and over again that judiasm was the religion of peace and that we shouldn't stereotype jews unfairly. Yep, perfect analogy there.
"Yep, perfect analogy there." by herzog herzog, I'm knew you couldn't be that stupid, welcome on board the ship of truth in the sea of lies... here .... meet the families of the victims of 9/11 and apologize to them.
"I'm knew you couldn't be that stupid" Aww, delicious irony. I'm knew you is be good at grammar.
