WHEN DID THE SPIRIT OF ROCK N ROLL DIE?

[+] ballot by Grapost

I believe it died with Kurt Cobain.

Since his death rock n roll has been in a death spiral. It's become the new Muzak in tv commercials and movies, no longer a driving force in American culture, and pushed aside by other music genre's.

The number of radio stations playing rock n roll has declined, and most of the new bands are boring and lifeless.

In the future I believe the death of Cobain will be looked upon as the beginning of the end of the significance of rock n roll in the music world.

I Agree
I Don't Agree
Not Sure
It's alive and well in the form of non commercial punk rock

(Popular) Music in general doesn't seem to be as "deep" or "passionate" or "soulful" as music of yesterday...I believe somewhere out there there is a band that will kick start the movement to "better" music because today, with all the improvements and inovations in the industry, there's something lacking...there are too many studio/media creations...the greatest rock and roll bands are yet to "take the stage"...

There still are some good bands.Myself I'm trying to start up a band with both an ethereal/atomospheric/introspective side melded with a political side. The difference being MY political side won't be of the left wing/metrosexual offerings,it'll be my own brutally honest commentary on the most taboo of subjects that the "alternative" bands won't touch. The Sex Pistols did it brilliantly but musically/artistically they left alot to be desired.Pink Floyd,to a lesser extent Rush, did but it wasn't raw enough imo.Rage was a they were faithfull to thier dogma.U2 and System of a down are quite good too.Nirvana, either you loved them or hated them, methinks the former please.MANY good underground bands ...blah blah.

It's time to spear every sacred cow living on borrowed time ... in tempo and with mooooood.I waste too much time here though.

With bands like Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Dropkick Murphys, Swingin Utters ect. I would say it's safe to say rock has more than a pulse.

I'm wondering if Warrant or even Dino or Frank Stallone could pull it together to get us out of this musical rut.IC_cheese
