Voted : I don't even know what you are talking about
Which is sad, considering that I'm a maintainer...
Voted : Other (please comment)
what difference does it make
Voted : I only give positive karma
With very few exceptions.... I.E. Rampant racism or attack on other users
Truth let me try to explain it better... Say there's a ballot, for example it could be 'what is your favorite band'. And someone enters something random that has nothing to do with the ballot like 'global warming is a myth'. I give that negative karma. Another example: Someone makes a ballot like 'what is the best country', and their ballot choices are listed out. They added the United States already, but someone else came along and made that a choice themselves even though it was already on the ballot. So it's a duplicate entry and that's one of the options in our dropdown menu for giving negative karma. I'm probably not explaining it very well, I'm really confused! And it's not a big deal but people get upset if they get the negative karma for it, even though it's a valid reason. Does that make more sense?

^There's nothing wrong with that, Kiki. What's wrong is those who give negetave karma purely for stating an opinion, presuming the opinion is stated without name-calling or personal attacks. As for racism, I don't know. Is it better to talk about such issues or hide them? Maybe free speech is more effective in dealing with such negative issues.

Let me see if I can help Kiki explain... I believe this was in the ballot about about the best Jimi Hendrix song and I accidently entered a duplicate choice. Kiki gave me a -5 Karma for that choice, thinking that the choice would disappear. I know that it wasn't done out of spite or anything by Kiki. So what Kiki is asking, is how do you get rid of a duplicate choice? I think one of the duplicate choices lacked a word or might have been spelled slightly different. Something like that was an oops on my part, but is rating down that choice the only way to make it disappear?
You're a douche. Steel asked one question in the title of his ballot and a different one at the end of the actual body of the ballot. I added a choice that responded to the question in the title (I would live in the US), because Steel's US choice indicates belief that the US system is more equal. Perhaps you should give Steel bad karma for making an unclear ballot. One may prefer to live in the US (Steel's 1st question) without believing it is more equal (his 2nd).
And what of a Maintainer's responsibilities to give negative karma without spite, i.e; multiple times in huge unwarranted doses obviously unfairly.
Do you Maintainers have anyway of policing yourselves, when a Maintainer openly breaks the site rules, or is that left up to overworked LCD as well?
Also, if you want to send negative karma for ballots that don't allow comments (except for joke ballots), I doubt anyone would object.
Skylab: Cool that's what I thought! I never give negative karma for opinions, usually not even if they are racist unless I know it's an internet troll trying to get his jollies. RunningScissors: Thanks! You explained it a lot better than I did... Lovelynice I'm not sure tbh, I assume it's something LCD regulates or other superusers would speak up if they noticed someone abusing anything. Skylab part 2: Yeah I do that sometimes already! :)
