I believe that stereotypes are over-simplified generalizations that reflects more truly on the group that creates them then on the group that is targets.
Most of them probably contain an elelment of truth, stereotypes invariably do. Some more than others of course..
One of those you have listed is a FACT, not a stereotype, i.e. minorities commit most of the street crimes in the USA (proportionate to their size anyway)
actually gay men did not cause aids. it was caused by a virus in a monkey in africa. the monkey bit a man -- a heterosexual man and that is how it begans. facts -- they're an amazing thing!
We can never understand all the complexities of reality, so we simplify, which is both necessary and distorts things.
