Yes, and I think it depends on what city you happen to visit as to your reception. I would not describe the Japanese as being xenophobic, but some do seem to be somewhat confused socially by foreigners.

For the two days I was there, I loved it. But I also have several friends in the Corps who would disagree with me.
Believe it it or not, there are Japanese skinheads that wave swastikas.

I've met a lot of people from the USA and UK like that too. They usually SHOUT when speaking as if that would make it clearer. And a whole bunch of Americans seem to think that all moslems are terrorists.
