Voted : No, cindys gone a little nuts
Regardless of what that flake of a woman would have anyone believe, the South Korean government is behind U.S. troops being in the region as a deterrent to North Korean expansion. Anyone who would disagree with that, I have one question for you: Do you honestly believe that North Korea would not invade South Korea if the United States were to withdraw any support or protection from South Korea?
"any AND all support" I should say
Voted : No, cindys gone a little nuts
a little nuts?
^ I felt generous.
GI's used to make huge amounts of money selling black market products to Koreans. Marlboro Cigarettes, Coca Colas, Cans of spam, Budweiser beers. they used to buy tons (according to records, average soldiers in Korea drank 5 6pks of beer a day, and 3 cartons of cigarettes - if they were consuming it themselves) of this stuff from the PX and sell them to the Korean merchants at a huge markups. now that's a kind of post I would like to serve in...

Voted : No, cindys gone a little nuts
what the hell is she doing? they just made fools of themselves.
Actually, ummm... "The construction of a US base at Pyeongtaek has met strong protests from activists and villagers who have to be evacuated from their homes or farmland." - Does this mean South Koreans are being forced from their homes? If so, are they going to get compensation?
^I'm sure they will, just as americans who are forced to give up their land for government projects are compensated.
sure socrates, the south korean government should compensate them. why should we? we're there at the approval of the south korean government -- if their people have an issue, they should take it up with their own government.
^ Yeah I would like to assume the S Korean government would give compensation. I believe your source would have mentioned it if they didn't get compensation. And, yes, of course it should be the South Korean government to give the compensation. And to directly answer the ballot question: the US troops are there to help defend South Korea's democracy from the militant authoritarian communist sadistic neighbour North Korea.
