Bechtel, which received hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to rebuild Iraq has let all of it's contracts lapse, and has no plans to bid for, or request, new ones. Bechtel plans to remove its operations from Iraq in the upcoming months.

Do you really think Bechtel would be leaving hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contracts on the table if the U.S. wasn't going to be leaving Iraq?

Ah Bechtel - they were behind the privatization of water fiasco in Bolivia back in 2000. They charged people for rain water, if I remember well. What's not to love about them?

Blaire and his people have been hinting towards a reduction in UK troops next spring... so that could coincide.

I would be very surprised to the US leaving like this. It would almost look like the war was lost. And that will be the last thing the administration wants

I think the term "cut and run" could
mean:

"Cut (their throats, or their food
aid) and Run (away with billions in money that should have gone into reconstruction)..."
