TONY BLAIR AS BUSH'S POODLE: IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT

In a devastating verdict on Tony Blair’s decision to back war in Iraq and his “totally one-sided” relationship with President Bush, a US State Department official has said that Britain’s role as a bridge between America and Europe is now “disappearing before our eyes”.

Kendall Myers, a senior State Department analyst, disclosed that for all Britain’s attempts to influence US policy in recent years, “we typically ignore them and take no notice — it’s a sad business”.

He added that he felt “a little ashamed” at Mr Bush’s treatment of the Prime Minister, who had invested so much of his political capital in standing shoulder to shoulder with America after 9/11.

Speaking at an academic forum in Washington on Tuesday night, he answered a question from The Times, saying: “It was a done deal from the beginning, it was a onesided relationship that was entered into with open eyes . . . there was nothing. There was no payback, no sense of reciprocity.”

Dr Myers had hard words for his own Administration’s record in the Iraq war: “It’s a bad time, let’s face it. We have not only failed to do what we wanted to do in Iraq but we have greatly strained our relationship with .”

Sir Menzies Campbell, the Liberal Democrat leader, said: “These remarks reflect a real sense of distaste among thinking Americans for Mr Blair’s apparent slavish support for President Bush . . . The special relationship needs to be rebalanced, rethought and renewed.”

He (Dr. Myers) said on Tuesday that Mr Blair had been left “ruined for all time” by the Iraq war." (London Times)

Blair doesn't deserve our pity, he's a fool...not for offering support for the initial invasion, but for refusing to see what was developing afterwards.

I can't believe this guy's British.

^ come on. could they be any more dramatic? sorry, but overly-emotional, far-reaching dramatic statements like that are just absurd and totally turn me off. they need to get a grip on their rhetoric.

reading that "article" it's clearly politically charged and lacks any credibility.

I prefer to describe Blair as being "holed beneath the waterline" for helping to invade Iraq based on utter lies.

Yes - we were abused - but surely Blair should have known better. Which leads me to believe that there's more to it. PErhaps Blaire was coherced in to supporting for no gain. Maybe it was to avoid some kind of lose.... who knows...

Blair deserves what he gets, if you play with fire you are going to get your fingers burned. I am a firm believer in karma, both Bush and Blair will get what they deserve eventually.

Lets face it, they are both going down in history as the worst leaders The UK and USA have ever had, thats a hard act to follow. Must make the next potential leaders feel quite smug knowing that NOTHING they do could ever match the faux pas these two idiots have made.

We all know the special relationship is a load of rubbish, but I dont feel sorry for Blair for ruining his career for his american neo con friends. Its the 126 British soldiers who have died I feel sorry for. Its the families of those killed by US friendly fire who will never know what really happened to their sons because their killers refuse to attend the inquest.
