for him to swear on a bible would be nothing, you can say what you want about muslims, but they take their religion very seriously.

I have no problem with him swearing in on the Koran because their is no requirement that government officials or even civilians must swear in on the Bible.If he was an athesist who wanted to swear in on the Constitution he could.

The bible's a nice book, but I don't know why they have people swear on it.
The founding fathers swore on the bible. They are turning over in their graves right now. He should have never ran if he did not want to do this. I am sick of all these Muslims. And yes before you call me names I have never been shy about my hate for these people.

In the UK MPs are required to swear fealty to the Queen, however, people can instead affirm their alliegence to parliament.

*No one* is reqauired to take the oath on *any* holy writ, or swear any oasths to any deity. I called my own congressman on this, who's due to take the same oath in january.
