IRANIAN WEAPONS ARM IRAQI MILITIA

[+] serious ballot by herzog

WASHINGTON, Nov. 30, 2006 — U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.

Iranian-made munitions found in Iraq include advanced IEDs designed to pierce armor and anti-tank weapons. U.S. intelligence believes the weapons have been supplied to Iraq's growing Shia militias from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which is also believed to be training Iraqi militia fighters in Iran.

Evidence is mounting, too, that the most powerful militia in Iraq, Moktada al-Sadr's Mahdi army, is receiving training support from the Iranian-backed terrorists of Hezbollah.

Two senior U.S. defense officials confirmed to ABC News earlier reports that fighters from the Mahdi army have traveled to Lebanon to receive training from Hezbollah.

While the New York Times reported that as many as 2,000 Iraqi militia fighters had received training in Lebanon, one of the senior officials said he believed the number was "closer to 1,000." Officials say a much smaller number of Hezbollah fighters have also traveled through Syria and into Iraq to provide training.

U.S. intelligence officials believe the number of Al-Sadr's Mahdi army now includes 40,000 fighters, making it an especially formidable force.

Are Irans actions here acts of war? Or is arming people to go kill americans not quite an act of war as long as they aren't doing it themselves?

And US armed Iraq the same equipment that killed Iranians in the Iran Iraq war, funny things is the US had a hand in both conflicts. But herzog stupidly doesn't realise this or is just a plain hypocritical fool.

Had Iran chosen to declare war on us at that time they would have been within their rights. No hypocrisy here isay.

You on the other hand believe that arming the Iraqis was the most horrible thing ever to have happened, but arming the insurgency is laudable. This makes you a hypocrite.

^ I get that impression from his comments.

If he wants to prove my wrong by condemning Iran or exonnerating the US I'll gladly welcome his consistency. But I doubt he will do either.

u.s foreign policy is a joke. but not a funny one. it has no direction. our friend one day is our enemy the next. our enemy one day is our friend the next. we bring our own problems on ourselves. we created the deplorable situation in iraq, so tough luck on us. sorry, but if iran is meddling in iraq, that's our fault. it's time the united states owned up to the fact that we directly create our own problems. why i hate bush is becuase the brave soldiers of america are now dying because of a mess he directly created. it's time to stop pussyfooting around it and come right out and admit -- bush and cheney's lies have caused all of this. fact.

Exonnerating the governments run by Bush and Blair, lol you really are deluded. As for condemning Iran, if i did that would make me a hypocrite for condemning them for something which the US/UK have done time and time again. You reap what you so fool like the fool you support.

Go on Herzog say the words Iran supports Terrorism then i can proof by examples that the US does the same. So i'll repeat, herzog stupidly doesn't realise this or is just a plain hypocritical fool.
by isay on Sun Dec 03, 06 4:39pm [+]

Isay: so it's wrong when the US did it, but ok when Iran does it? And you have the nerve to call anyone else a hypocrite?
by herzog on Sun Dec 03, 06 8:22pm [+]

I not a person complaining constantly about Iran to justify what his own country has and STILL DOES to keep power and control regardless of any wrong doings. Your actions cause reactions then compalin about it when it all goes not to plan.
