I have already hired the lawyer. the day after the accident.

and it may have been a bad mistake to do so.
by LCD on Thu Dec 07, 06 7:07am [+]

you should give more details. this isn't really a yes or no answer. depends on the complexity.
by Kev24 on Thu Dec 07, 06 7:22am [+]

I am not asking for my case, it's just a ballot question directed at the general public.

why, are you studying for the bar exam? 024
by LCD on Thu Dec 07, 06 7:26am [+]

right and it can't be answered yes or no because there are always circumstances that have to be considered.
by Kev24 on Thu Dec 07, 06 8:08am [+]

Depends on how bad the accident is.

Voted : hire an attorney
My sister had an accident about four years ago, settled with the company then. Two months ago, the woman who hit her sent papers, suing her for damages. Calla lawyer.

Kev 24 is correct, and it depends on many factors, especially long-term medical damages. I know you wanted a "yes" or "no" answer, which I also couldn't give you earlier as based on the knowledge at hand. Yes, Truthseeker013 also brings up a good point, which I also mentioned earlier: you may find the other party has its own suit against you.

By the way, I read your poll about the paralegal, and I would find it very unusual if you were charged a full attorney's fee for the services of a paralegal. While there's nothing in violation of rules of professional conduct in allowing a paralegal in your employ to work on a client's case, what they can do is proscribed. I never saw anyone billed at attorney fee rates for the services of a paralegal, which were generally clearly delineated in the client billing.
