OMG THE DRAMA! BALLOTS 106618 AND 105565

[+] ballot by Kiki
created Sun Dec 10, 06

Oh Lord I am rolling right now! I just saw whoeverdung's ballot that's exactly the same as jappy's ballot (even though he claims jappy is a nut) about me ... since both have blocked me (which is kind of a dumb move since I hand out the positive K&A like candy) here is my response to the guy who likes to get rammed in his dunghole. At least I think that's what his user name is!

So since I can't respond there, my response to people getting upset about getting -1 karma for creating duplicate choices:

"I do this, I'm assuming some of you are talking about me! I thought that's what we were supposed to do, that's what LCD told me and that's how the FAQ/Karma system is set up. If he didn't want us giving negative karma for stuff like that why is it an option? If it really bothers people I can stop but I asked LCD about it and he said people are karma freaks and not to worry if they get upset about it because what I was doing was valid and it doesn't hurt anyone's karma unless I take away aura (which I never do). I guess I didn't realize it was that big of a deal but if people can't deal with the .001% of the time I give out negative karma (which is usually a -1 unless it was obscene or racist or something) I'll stop. But really I was under the impression that's how LCD wanted it since he set the system up that way and told me not to worry about it."

So anyway that's that. I've been here almost four years and haven't ever had any problems with people worrying about this until jappy - it's so odd because I give out so much +karma every day! Internet people make me laugh. Well at least thanks for making the site mildly entertaining guys :-)

So ... should I stop doing that? And if so, should LCD make it so it's not an option to give negative karma for things like putting the same thing someone else did or making a comment where a ballot choice should go? I have always done it because I thought that's what we were supposed to do to keep the site kind of cleaned up. Am I wrong? This is kind of like my ballot #105577 but we'll try it again...majority will rule!

Kiki stop doing that! That's not how LCD wants it.
Kiki stop doing that! Even though that's how LCD wants it.
It's your prerogative to do that since it's one of the options we are given.
LCD should get rid of those options for giving -karma and leave it just to spam and obscenity
I have no idea what this is even about
Some people get worked up about nothing, ignore them and do what you like to do

COMMENTS:
Stop being so picky. It really is petty. I cannot always see if a choice is a duplicate because of trouble I have seeing details. You only dinged me once, but I didn't appreciate it. It is like dinging someone for a spelling mistake. Save the negative karma for spam, racist posts, obscenity and others.

If you ding people for a "duplicate" and other minor reasons, expect that people will rate you down for minor stuff as well. People don't approve or add "duplicate" choices on purpose...

I really do not understand this seeming obsession on "duplicates". There are more than enough things that are worthy of deletion or -k.

And.... you didn't allow for a more appropriate choice to be added. Should you get negative k for that? Its kind of petty though and I won't do it. Get it?

Yeah I see what you're saying. I just assumed if it was an option for us to do, that's how it was supposed to be!

Sometimes due to the wording used in a ballot you may assume it 's not a duplicate but it is...

Well, right after I said there's nothing wrong with doing that sort of thing, there were two times when I and someone else entered the same voting option at the same time, with the result of duplicate ballot choices. Shows me for forgetting Murphy's Law.

But I'll certainly credit you with good intentions.

ramaDung and Jappy can't stand one another, so the fact that they would both speak out as one on your abusive ratings should speak volumes about your behavior.

Do the right thing, either stop being so picky, or respectfully decline to be a maintainer. If you are so power drunk that you can't stop rating constantly, you probably shouldn't have that power.

Voted : Kiki stop doing that! That's not how LCD wants it.
The time I got negative karma for a duplicate choice, the duplicate followed the original and was EXACTLY the same. It went up due to a temporary coding glitch, otherwise it couldn't have happened. In that case, I guess LCD should have gotten the negative karma. wink

You know people make fun of him for saying that but there is wisdom in what he said, no joke.

It's a faux pas, if you will.

How come it's a faux pas if that's how the owner wants it? Who decided it wasn't okay?
