DO YOU THINK THE GUY WHO SUBMITTED THE ABU GRAIB PHOTOS TO HIS SUPERIOR ...

... did the right thing, or was he a 'snitch'?

I don't know if anyone else saw the 60 Minutes item about this guy last night, but I was surprised at how he had been vilified by his fellow soldiers and his townspeople for 'telling' -- to the extent that his life was at risk if he went home.

Meanwhile, the soldiers who conducted the torture were welcomed home as heroes by their townspeople?!

I'm always astounded by this kind of response to whistleblowers, and this is no exception. What do YOU think?

The guy did the right thing, and I'm glad it came out.
The guy is a rat and a snitch, and deserves to be pilloried.

History will judge him as a courageous stand-up guy i'm sure. As for tortures, the deepest circle of hell is reserved for them.

Reminds me of a quote:
A thief in the company of honest men is as much a liability as an honest man in the company of thieves. (something like that)

He made a good point, that Americans hold themselves to a higher standard than our enemies.

No one likes to be told they're wrong, or blame themselves. Unfortunately.

This scenario tends to cast doubt on the idea of the innate moral superiority of Americans, which is one of the implied justifications for going to war in Iraq.

He did the right thing.

But whistleblowers are rarely made popular by their actions.

No question. A shame he's catching such hell for it.
