Why is it that people who try to push multiculturalism and tolerance are the most intolerant of all when someone disagrees with them?
They live in a strange world. Apparently where I live it is different. Jews, Christians and Muslims work together on various community problems. Not too long ago a meeting place for Muslims was vandalized. Guess who offered them temporary free space to worship? A Jewish Synagogue. Jews and Christians also shared a common place for awhile. Now they are essentially on the same property. Different buildings, but share the same parking lot, etc.
I must live somewhere strange.

Prejudice isn't rational; It isn't based on scientific evidence or impartial facts; It's a psychological conflict between ego and a man's rational mind.
Ego's insecurities and fears over-ride the logical, rational side of reason and makes great leaps to irrational conclusions. Most prejudist is a learned behavior over years of conditioning. Some is the result of enviroment as in peer and social pressure.
Several studies have concluded that when people are put in a group and confronted with the choice of accepting an incorrect answer (such as which line is longest) that the group (deliberately) choose as correct, 80% of the unsuspecting subjects will reject the (obvious) correct answer and go along with the group.
Conclusion: 80% of people are insecure and fear ridicule and rejection.

A mixture of all of the above (except for the "based on fact" crap), a number of factors yet unstated, sheer stupidity- once more, for the official record, when it all goes south, just stand outside your houses and wave a blue flag. I'll be beaming you up fast, so don't eat.
