SELECTING THE SEX OF YOUR BABY : WOULD YOU DO IT?

[+] serious ballot by LCD
created Wed Dec 13, 06

I hear that in china, they centrifuge the sperm so that they can have more sons.

sure most would say no. but would you still be against it if:

you have 10 daughters, and you want a son.
you want to have one son and one daughter.
and other reasons that I haven't thought of.

I would consider choosing if given a chance
I would choose only under certain circumstances
I would never interfere with nature, no matter what

In a world where some are using this technology to determine whether an abortion is warranted or not? No way.

I don't want kids, but if I did and could choose the sex of the baby, I would consider choosing. It'd be a hard choice, though. Boys are physically stronger and more useful for carrying things, but I don't think it's right to have a child to be a slave. Boys also face a tough set of expectations and reverse discrimination. Girls can get away with more, but they also face discrimination.

The problem with Selection in China is that there is now a lot more young males then females, leaving men with no mates. With this happening young men are being discourages. Nature naturally provides us with a 50% chance of either or, and by the way people in China are only allowed 1 child, that is why they are doing sex selection, I believe they should be allowed (2) children and sex select a boy an a GIRL each family should be required one of each, so as not to mess up Natures balance. Only children are growing up and having to take care of two parents and 4 grandparents in China as the population ages, with no sibling to share that heavy load, it could be disastorous.
