India and Pakistan already have nclear weapons. That's what makes the Kashmir issue so important.

Yeah India has had nuclear weapons since the 70's and Indira Gandi was the P.M.As you know through the 70's India has had a series of wars with Pakistan and it is these conflicts that lead to India acquiring the bomb.

That makes me feel a bit stuuupid.
Rediculous that they would both have nukes, just because the other has. Would either of them actually bomb their neighbour. What if the wind changed direction?
Ridiculous? Not really. The US and Russia strived for nukes because the other side had them. Rather than nukes being a deterrent they have only served to convince others of the need to acquire them. Case in point Iraq and North Korea, Iraq allegedly wanted them and got invaded on pretext of preventing them from acquiring the. North Korea got them and was treated rather differently. Or Israel and Iran, Israel has them and now Iran wants them.

I thought India *had* nukes already, making the long-standing emnity between them and Pakistan all the more tense.
both Pakistan and India have nuclear weapons. Neither have pledged to wipe the other off the map despite the hostilities in the disputed areas.

I suppose also, though really the ideal would be for no-one to have the bomb, India are at least a responsible democracy, unlike Pakistan.
