WHAT'S THE BEST SONG OF 2006?

[+] ballot by aiken4sumdiesel
created Wed Dec 20, 06

In the past 12 months we've encountered big hits from veterans, break-out artists, people we assumed were dead, and those destined to become nothing more than a one hit wonder. We've heard chart-toppers and bottom-dwellers from every conceivable genre including rap, rock, pop, country, and more. But the question isn't about which single was at #1 or #100 for however many weeks, it's about which song you play "turned all the way up to the maximum" while you sing
'til your lungs give out" and "shake your money maker"?

"Ridin" Chamillionaire
"Irreplaceable" Beyonce
"Crazy" Gnarles Barkley
"Far Away" Nickelback
"What Hurts the Most" Rascal Flatts
"Buttons" Pussycat Dolls
"SexyBack" Justin Timberlake
"How to Save a Life" The Fray
"Money Maker" Ludacris
"This Ain't a Scene, It's An Arms Race" Fall Out Boy
"Perfect" Simple Plan
When You Were Young - The Killers
stuntin like my daddy
"Star Witness" Neko Case
"This is Us" Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris
"For the Price of a Cup of Tea" Belle and Sebastian
"Cold Black Devil/14 Miles" Jackie Greene
"White & Nerdy" Weird Al Yankovic
"Say Goodbye" Chris Brown
"I Wanna Love You" Akon feat. Snoop Dogg
"Crazy" Simple Plan
'My Humps' by the Black Eyed Peas

I don't think I've ever heard any of those.

NONE of them? I think even cave-dwellers have heard at least 1 of them! You'd probably be best suited living under a rock! haha! Turn your radio on once in a while!

^ That was me, by the way.
by Grumpy_Person on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:28pm [+]

Sorry, the one above aiken4sumdiesel was me.
by Grumpy_Person on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:29pm [+]

Wow, I'm a geezer, I don't recognize a single song on here lol!
by nuckinfutz on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:29pm [+]

Well, I might have heard one or two in passing, but I don't recognize any of the titles.

I'm just not a big fan of the current Top 40/pop/rap stuff.
by Grumpy_Person on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:31pm [+]

Whoops. I take that back. I see "How to Save a Life" on there now. I've heard that one. Enough times to make me not ever want to hear it again.
by Grumpy_Person on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:32pm [+]

Voted : "Perfect" Simple Plan
It's like Simple Plan was looking at my relationship with my Dad when they wrote it.
by forgetmenot on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:48pm [+]

Voted : "Crazy" Gnarles Barkley
None of these lol. But of the one's up there, I (surprisingly) think "Crazy" is the best.
by himself809 on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:49pm [+]

I agree that "How to Save a Life" is probably one of the most over-played songs on the radio today, but it's a good song. I higly recommend The Fray's album to anybody who likes that song, or at least liked at one point.
by aiken4sumdiesel on Wed Dec 20, 06 9:54pm [+]

I do like Home and Garden's album History and Geography, which came out in 2006. Most of you have probably never heard of it.
by nuckinfutz on Wed Dec 20, 06 10:02pm [+]

2006 was the year I discovered the wonderful group Os Mutantes, and even though their music came out in the 60s and 70s, it will remind me of 2006.
by nuckinfutz on Wed Dec 20, 06 10:04pm [+]

"Perfect" came out like 2 years ago. Notice the references to 2006 in the question and the comments and the fact that all the others songs listed came out this year.
by aiken4sumdiesel on Wed Dec 20, 06 10:12pm [+]

Crazy is the best from '06, #2 is the hard question.
by ClosetIguana on Thu Dec 21, 06 12:50am [+]

Voted : "Crazy" Gnarles Barkley
this is the only one I know
so it's clearly the best :D
by Jyl on Thu Dec 21, 06 1:05pm [+]

Voted : stuntin like my daddy
Wow so many great songs! *tear* Lets see... #1 Crazy, #2 Sexy back, #3 Irreplacable, #4 Buttons, #5 Stuntin like my daddy. Those are the top 5 songs of the 2006
by vincents_wifey on Thu Dec 21, 06 1:10pm [+]

Gosh did I just put STUNTIN last? Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!
by vincents_wifey on Thu Dec 21, 06 1:13pm [+]

There's a whole mess-load of other good tracks. "Say Goodbye" by Chris Brown, Nickelback's new one "If Everyone Cared," "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder, "My Love" by J. Timberlake, Sean Paul's "Give it Up to Me, "Number 1" by Pharrell, "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al...the list goes on and on and on...
by aiken4sumdiesel on Thu Dec 21, 06 9:29pm [+]

Voted : "Star Witness" Neko Case
Wow. Except for Gnarls, what a total steamingly shitty year for music.
by _Beelzebubba on Fri Dec 22, 06 8:35am [+]

At least you've heard of them...

"This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" rox my sox off.
by Dani_dysfunk on Mon Dec 25, 06 3:59pm [+]

Wow, "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley is way overrated in my opinion.
by Dani_dysfunk on Sat Jan 27, 07 12:13pm [+]
