At your age, it's still fairly easy to get the ball rolling towards becoming more socially active (it gets a bit trickier by my age). Join some clubs at school that interest you, get involved in social stuff at your school and stuff like that, and talk to people you like. Don't worry about your messages and stuff until you have time to check them, people on the internet realize that their messages can't always be responded to right away and that people have lives outside the net, so don't worry about not responding right away.
Heh, I'm afflicted with what they call internet addiction. Also I think I'm the antithesis of a typical teenager in some respects. There are so many activities that someone can do outside of being on the computer, yet on the 'net it's a giant information and communication portal. It goes on forever. It's hard to determine when that activity should be ceased.

I have this problem, too. I am trying to normalize my computer time. I put up a large atomic clock on the wall near my monitor in full view. And I tell myself that information is just that. My life won't come to a paralyzing halt just because I miss a tidbit or two. because it is never ending, you would have to never sleep to get it all--you've got to let some of it go; having it won't change your life. I think before there were computers, you and I would have been magazine horders, saving years worth old issues because we feared there would be some article we might miss if we threw them out. I would call you and me "info pack rats", afraid of letting go of informational venues. Try thinking about this--the less you sleep, the harder it will be to lose weight, you will age faster, and you will be die sooner (all true). I do this--I turn down my bed and place a book I am reading on my night stand--this kind of beckons me to bed. I hope this helps a little.

I wish that Cathexis were here to answer this. IMO, he had it in hand. Myself, my own social life verges on the ridiculous.

I have a hard wood chair so I won't let myself get comfortable here. And I rush it.. flashing windows, typing all fast! It still sucks up part of my life though I think.

You could make yourself a schedule to stick to - like only a certain number of hours or only certain times you come online. Then just know the internet will still be there when you get back! Easier said than done but you can do it.

I don't have a life, therefore, I can balance it out.
