COMMENTS:
I'm trying hard to think of specifically male clothing styles in use nowadays, but I can't. As for why men are derided for dressing in drag (seriously, as opposed to dicking around on TV, on stag nights, etc.), perhaps it's because they look so bloody stupid?
Voted : Who knows?
The bias exists, but I don't know why.

It's that nasty old societal double-standard at work. WHat's good for the gander is sick and perverted for the goose. Besides, most of the geese enjoy seeing the gander done up like Marlene Dietrich...

Perhaps males (mostly) disaprove of a man emulating the "weaker" sex, but for a woman to emulate the "stronger" sex, they don't feel threatened or "tricked" into being attracted by what they may believe to be something that it's not...

Men and things male have always been ascribed to belong a superior being. Male dressing is seen as a step up and female dressing a step down. If you really want to see how stupid women look in the attire and "feminine" persona women affect, look at how stupid it looks on as man. It looks just as stupid on women but society has made, WITH WOMEN'S PERMISSION, the icon of the famle gender to be come so ridiculous, that there is little contrast when we see stupid looking attire or mannerisms affected by women.
"I'm trying hard to think of specifically male clothing styles in use nowadays, but I can't." Well, business suits with a tie are pretty much specifically male clothing styles.
