I don't think I hate anyone, but I know plenty of people who say they do, it's a strong word, but hmmmm, I don't know, I hear of People who say the only way they got through this or that situation was to get revenge on someone they hate.

larry - I asked the same Q about boredom and loneliness.

If we have these emotions, do they have a necessary purpose?

If not, why have them?

In olden days, maybe it helped you defeat an enemy... a driving force to overcome them.

actually - that seems to be how it's used today.

^ voted wrong. I think it must have some purpose.

But, I done hate anyone and I plan to keep it that way.

Self destructive and harmful to others.

Yes, it must be a survival mechanism. Just because it causes misery doesn't mean it serves no purpose, although it often is destructive.

I sincerely hope not. I've always found hate to be nothing more than a drain on the soul.

Hatred is futile. It is not a defense mechanism against anything unless what society is striving for is dischord and conflict.
